Illustrator, Expand command:
The Expand command converts dynamic effects such as gradients, Live Paint objects, Live Trace, blends, patterns and styles into objects. As we all know, the more complex the file, the more that can go wrong during output so this is particularly useful if you’re having trouble printing.
The Expand command will also convert fills and strokes into individual objects, and regular gradients into mesh gradient objects.
